  • Plymouth Seascape UK Nationals

After puling some strings our UK dealer Peter Wanstall managed to get “Nationals” title for the first Seascape race in UK. Nationals were run embedded into UK Sportboat nationals, all being part of Plymouth sailing week.
Weather didn’t disappoint and 6 crews from UK, AUT and CRO had to show their skills in winds up to 30 knots. Non surprisingly Jochem Vieser, Seascape UK agent for the southwest and his team for which he likes to say consists of “best amateurs money can buy” took the Seascape18 UK title for 2011. Ratko Štibrič and his Croatian crew managed to nip him one bullet on the last day when the wind dropped.

We were also very pleased by looking at the Sportboat nationals results which sailed under the PY handicap. Seascape took 3 out of 4 first places including the victory – again by Jochem Vieser.

  • Upcoming Events

The 2012 events calendar has now been finalised with many interesting venues throughout europe and the UK. For us UK owners the following events would make a great traveller series, all very cost effective to attend and guaranteed to have a good turnout with our own class starts.

The first, Spi Quest France-La Trinite sur Mer 5th-9th April http://www.spi-ouestfrance.com/ , Next the French national championships at GPEN – Crozon in Brittany 16th-20th May http://www.gpen.fr/fr/pages/Bienvenue/1/ . For something a little different the Peter Kretschmann Memorial on lake Worthersee Velden Austria 26th-27th May. (would be nice to reciprocate with the Austrian guys since they made the effort and turned up for our first national championships event in Plymouth last year). Lake Worthersee is a fantastic venue, something completely different and they would make us very welcome. They had the Austrian nationals there last year with 25 boats on the start line.

The first class event in the UK will be at Poole Regatta 2nd-4th June http://pooleregatta.co.uk/cms/ , next a quick hop across the channel for Normandy Race Week in Le-Havre 7th-10th June http://www.normandy-week.com/ , then back to Plymouth in the UK for the PPSA Regatta 21st-22nd July http://www.plymouthregatta.co.uk/ . Finally ending with our UK National Championships in Torbay Week 25th-28th August http://www.torbayweek.co.uk/default.htm .

The cost of doing these events range from £25 to £70 for the UK ones (and this generally includes berthing). GPEN is €200 which includes entry, accommodation, food and drinks! Normandy week €150 with some meals and party included as well as 50% off LD lines ferry.
